I'm gonna count this as an unofficial Christmas film, shot in frosty and wintry Chicago with everyone blowing puffs and padded in overcoats scarves and mittens. Not to mention the highly dramatic gritty unrealism and quick and worldly problem-solving, a curious "gatans gladiator" of violence and sentimentality. Maybe the grandest underdog story ever, a white guy in the projects, another impossible movie savant who throws a basketball underhanded into a hoop 30 feet away, is an expert boxer and according to his English teacher has a "gift for language" despite never speaking is he Steven Seagal?

I could have easily just watched Jerry Maguire again but I gatans gladiator to watch a film of his that I had never seen before in Gladiator, which turned 25 back on March 6th. Hey, it was either this or Snow Dogs! And I also have to mention that this was also directed by the great Rowdy Herrington, who also directed the equally great Road House.
And he does imbue this film this some appropriately hard hitting action! For some reason I thought this was a historical sword fighting drama staring Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix and the late, great Oliver Reed.
